The intestinal microbiota in enthesitis-related arthitis
نویسندگان
چکیده
Introduction The role of gut inflammation and of intestinal permeability has been extensively studied in spondyloarthropathies, and more recently also in enthesitis–related arthritis (ERA). Clinical and experimental evidences have indicated that in genetically predisposed subjects alterations of gut microbiota may be linked to abnormal immune responses and chronic inflammatory disorders, and oral and gut microbiota have both been associated with RA.

Interaction between Intestinal Microbiota and Serotonin Metabolism
Gut microbiota regulates the production of signaling molecules, such as serotonin or 5-Hydroxytryptamine: 5-HT in the host. Serotonin is a biogenic amine that acts as a neurotransmitter in the gut and brain. There is a perfect interaction between human gastrointestinal microbiota and the serotonin system. The gut microbiota plays an important role in the serotonin signaling pathways through the...
متن کاملAltered microbiota associated with abnormal humoral immune responses to commensal organisms in enthesitis-related arthritis
INTRODUCTION Prior studies have established altered microbiota and immunologic reactivity to enteric commensal organisms in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Since intestinal inflammation is present in a subset of patients with both pediatric and adult spondyloarthritis (SpA), we hypothesized that SpA patients may also have altered microbiota and immune responsiveness to enteric organisms. ME...
متن کاملAlteration of Fecal Microbiota Profiles in Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis. Associations with HLA-B27 Allele and Disease Status
Alteration of gut microbiota is involved in several chronic inflammatory and autoimmune diseases, including rheumatoid arthritis, and gut microbial "pro-arthritogenic" profiles have been hypothesized. Intestinal inflammation may be involved in spondyloarthropathies and in a subset of patients affected by Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA), the most common chronic rheumatic disease of childhood...
متن کاملCorrelation of gut microbiota composition with colon adenomatous polyps
Microbiota is a collection of microorganisms that live in the oral cavity, respiratory tract and intestine of multicellular organisms. Microbiota exerts numerous physiological and pathological effects on the organism in which it resides. Increasing attention has been directed to the host-microbiota interaction, which is highly relevant to the development of carcinogenesis. Changes in the compos...
متن کاملDispersal patterns of endogenous bacteria among grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idellus) guts
The formation and regulation of vertebrate endogenous intestinal microbiota has been widely studied as the microbiota plays a crucial role in the host nutrition, development, and health. Despite the importance of microbiota for host health, it is still unclear whether the endogenous intestinal microorganisms are genetically distinct or whether they are genetically related with each other in dif...
